Gared O’Donnell from Planes Mistaken For Stars fame has a new project/band called Hawks and Doves! He has been coming to Gainesville, Fl to collaborate with George Rebelo (Hot Water Music/ The Draft) on drums and Chad Darby (Averkiou) on bass/guitar off and on for most of 2008. Now Gared is back in the south gearing up to record the Hawks and Doves full album to be released April 2009 on No Idea Records.
The trio will head into Crescendo studios w/ Derron Nuhfer and Addison Burns at the helm Jan 14th to track 9 songs.
Gared had this to say about his new musical endeavor:
As it stands the songs are shaping up to be more of a full band approach and less singer/songwriter than I initially thought, which is fine seeing as there are plenty other acoustic beardy guys doing the genre right? That is not to say you won’t get a bit of my more rustic side. It’s inevitable that this project will get it’s share of comparisons to Planes and that s fair {being I sing/play git/write the songs} but I must say in regard to that its shaping up to be kind of photo negative of a Planes LP.
A two song The Hush Money 7 was released Oct 31st as a limited FEST 7 Test Pressing limited to 200 with hand screened covers. They are still a few available through the No Idea Records website. The flip side features a cover of I m on Fire by Bruce Springsteen. A proper version of the 7 should be out in a few weeks on No Idea!
