Sorry Folks, No Image Is Here.

Paper + Plastick Records has added a third installment to its free webcomic series “50 States.” The series takes a story from a musician or band and tells it in a colored and narrated comic book format. The latest installment features the self-proclaimed originator of “post-punk laptop rap” MC Lars.

Previously featuring Less Than Jake and The Dopamines, “50 States” has been downloaded by over 2,000 readers for no charge at all. Written by Matt Anderson and drawn by Matt Jordan, the web series is finding a niche among those who are tired of simple blog posts from artists and desire for a cooler, more unique way to read a story from a band.

In 50 States #3, readers find MC Lars telling the story of his most memorable experience playing a college town – opening for Snoop Dogg in Rhode Island. MC Lars has released six albums dating back to 1999 and will be putting out a “Greatest Hits” compilation, which will include a new EP called the Edgar Allen Poe EP, this year. He is using Kickstarter to fund the project.

50 States is one of an expanding array of Paper + Plastick original comic book series. Perfect Teeth, The Phone Call, Kill the Wonderhawks, and Exit Interview are all original titles from the label, which is looking to expand its comic book offerings even more in 2012.
