(July 13, 2007 New York, NY) Everybody’s chasing “Allison,” the mystery girl at the heart of the first single and brand new video by New York-based Permanent Me, from their debut album, AFTER THE ROOM CLEARS, on Stolen Transmission. The clip, which is premiering now at purevolume.com, coincides with Permanent Me heading out on the Human Circus Tour with Valencia, Self Against City, and Forever The Sickest Kids from now through July 20th. (Please see itinerary below.)
“Allison” was re-mixed by Sum 41 lead singer Deryck Whibley, Permanent Me’s #1 fan. The video, which was filmed in Brooklyn and pays homage to French cinma vrit, stars Australian model Tiah Eckhardt (who flew here at her own expense because she is a fan of the band) and equally famous model Boyd Holbrook (the face of Gap, DKNY, BCBG, Converse and who has appeared in Gucci and Viktor & Rolf campaigns). The black-and-white clip was directed by Doctor Mindbender aka Jay Bulger (a former model himself); news of its broadcast debut will be announced in the weeks ahead.
AFTER THE ROOM CLEARS (released January 30th) was produced by Matt Squire, a major A-list figure who has thrown his hat in Permanent Me’s ring. Squire is celebrated for his work with Panic! At The Disco, Cute Is What We Aim For, Downtown Singapore, and fellow Stolen Transmission group Monty Are I, with whom Permanent Me toured last year.
For over a year, Permanent Me has virtually lived on the road, starting in mid-2006 on shows with Monty Are I, Cartel, Boys Like Girls, and Valencia. Permanent Me joined Fall Out Boy, All American Rejects and two dozen other bands at New Jersey’s Bamboozle (East) in May (the only band to perform both days over the weekend). The band played a 15-city tour of the East with Cartel, Hit The Lights, and Summer Obsession during the fall; as well as shows in October with Valencia and Sound the Alarm, including California’s Bamboozle Left. In early 2007, Permanent Me was on the road with Fall Out Boy, alongside New Found Glory and Early November, gaining fans in every city they visited. Most recently, April found Permanent Me out on dates with Punchline, The Fold and The Graduate. A steadily growing fanbase keeps up with the band at their MySpace website, www.permanentme.com.
Straight outta the mean streets of North Bellmore, Long Island, Permanent Me was organized by founding members Joe Guccione (guitar, vocals) and Brian Kapler (vocals, guitar). They were still in junior high school when they realized that life was too short to be stuck in the house playing video games and doing homework. After stints in other bands, they decided to try it on their own, eventually recruiting drummer Mike Fleischmann and newest member Justin Morell on bass. They were originally known around L.I. as Yes, Virginia, until an album of the same title (by Dresden Dolls, on Roadrunner) forced a name change.
