Sorry Folks, No Image Is Here.

Rhoda Dakar of the UK 2 tone band The Bodysnatchers has been doing a PledgeMusic campaign for a bit now and the campaign is she is recording and singing old, unreleased Bodysnatchers songs. The campaign has 8 days to go and is way beyond the initial goal, which is always nice to see. The Bodysnatchers aren’t getting back together but this is just being billed as Rhoda Dakar Sings The BodySnatchers. “I’ve Been Waiting, So Long…” For new music! More details below and at the PledgeMusic page.

Celebrating the 35th anniversary of The Bodysnatchers, 2 Tone Records’ all-girl group, lead singer and songwriter Rhoda Dakar will be recording (though not re-forming) songs of The Bodysnatchers, many for the very first time.

Formed in 1979 by bassist Nicky Summers, Rhoda was introduced through Shane McGowan. Nationwide gigs alongside Madness, The Selecter, The Specials, The Go-Gos and Toots & The Maytals followed. The band signed to legendary UK record label 2 Tone and had two UK chart hits; Let’s Do Rocksteady b/w Ruder Than You in March 1980 and Easy Life b/w Too Experienced (produced by label boss/The Specials founder Jerry Dammers) in July. These singles and their appearance on 2 Tone’s Dance Craze movie were The Bodysnatchers’ only commercial releases.

This album will feature previously unrecorded and unheard (aside from the odd bootleg) Bodysnatchers songs. To be launched at an exclusive Rhoda Dakar sings The Bodysnatchers show at Camden Town’s legendary Jazz Cafe on Halloween (Friday 31st October).
