RIP: Doug Fieger (The Knack)

The Knack’s lead singer Doug Fieger has passed away at the age of 57. The Knack and Doug Fieger are most famous for their hit “My Sharona.” Doug died from cancer, which he has been battling for a few years now. The official website of The Knack simply had this on their site: “Our hearts are broken, we will miss you Doug.” The site will have a full obituary today.

The lead singer of The Knack, Doug Fieger, who co-wrote the hit My Sharona, has died at the age of 57.

Fieger, who died on Sunday at his home in Los Angeles, had been battling cancer, and had undergone surgery to remove brain tumours in 2006.

“Our hearts are broken, we will miss you Doug,” his band members posted on The Knack’s official website.

My Sharona topped the US singles chart in 1979, and led to the group being hailed as the “next Beatles”.
