North America s premier ska tour continues in 2008 with two confirmed festival dates in Foxborough, MA and Sayreville, NJ.
A BIT ABOUT THE SKA IS DEAD TOUR:
The Ska is Dead Tour was created in February 2004 as a means of reinvigorating the U.S. ska scene. Over the course of the next 4 years it did just that, selling over 54,000 tickets throughout it s run of 128 shows across North America. The tour has featured the very best of the genre including, The Toasters, Streetlight Manifesto, Catch 22, Big D and the Kids Table, The Voodoo Glowskulls, The Suicide Machines, Mu330, The Planet Smashers and Mustard Plug among others. It has also received glowing press in publications such as Amp Magazine, Pollstar Online and Skratch Magazine. The tour has also produced one of the most popular ska sites on the web, www.SkaIsDead.com as well served as the inspiration for many other subsequent ska package tours around the world.
Since then Ska is Dead has gone on to bring the tour to the U.K. in 2006 and in 2007 teamed up to release Ska Is Dead The CD. Released in the U.S on Asian Man Records the CD furthered the initial intentions of the tour, selling thousands of copies through a varied distribution network including Hot Topic, Best Buy and various merchandise booths on the 2007 Vans Warped Tour. The CD was also distributed worldwide and licensed to excellent local ska labels in Canada, the UK, Japan, and Australia.
In the fall of 2008 Ska Is Dead is sponsoring the Skanksgiving 08 Ska Festivals. The two shows feature one of the strongest ska festival line ups seen in the U.S in years and are sure prove once more that ska is far from dead.
