Billboard.com: Indie rock act Taking Back Sunday has signed with Warner Bros., after releasing two popular albums via Chicago-based label Victory. The group will hit the studio in the fall to begin work on its Warner Bros. debut, expected sometime in 2006.
Taking Back Sunday’s 2004 album, “Where You Want To Be,” has been one of the top-selling independently released rock records of the past year. It debuted at No. 3 on The Billboard 200 and has sold more than 634,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
“Where You Want To Be” spawned Taking Back Sunday’s first rock radio hit in “A Decade Under the Influence,” which reached No. 16 on Billboard’s Modern Rock chart.
Having just completed a tour with Jimmy Eat World, the two groups will cross the Atlantic for support slots on Green Day’s June 18-19 shows at London’s Milton Keynes Bowl.
Taking Back Sunday will also play a one-off July 13 date with Weezer at Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale, N.Y.
