The Specials playing Closing Ceremonies at London Olympics 2012 with New Order and Blur

Music News | By on Feb 21st, 2012

Well the Summer Olympics just got ten times more interesting! The Specials will close out the Olympics with Blur and New Order in Hyde Park at the closing ceremonies. I really hope we get to them perform! I’m glad with the choices of the bands, but I’m sure others will argue over who are the “best” of the British bands.

The Specials will join New Order and Blur at a special concert to mark the end of this Summer’s 2012 Olympics in London. The huge concert will take place in London’s Hyde Park On August 12th 2012 and will see Blur (whose lead singer Damon Albarn is a huge fan of The Specials) headlining.

IT`S A MARATHON NOT A RACE……
………..& a show of Olympic proportions!! The Specials are proud to announce their involvement in the Closing Ceremony Celebration Concert & an opportunity to celebrate the best that is British. It promises to be a balmy Sunday evening 12th August when The Specials take to the Hyde Park Stage for their only UK show of 2012. Since reforming in 2009 the band have played in excess of 100 sold out shows across the world cementing their reputation as one of the best live bands to grace the stage. The Best Of British is a fitting accolade.
