Sorry Folks, No Image Is Here.

We Are The Union are releasing their third full-length album You Can’t Hide The Sun on Paper + Plastick Records on October 2nd (vinyl release Nov. 6th). You Can’t Hide The Sun is the follow-up to the group’s sophomore album, Great Leaps Forward, which came out via Paper + Plastick in March of 2010. The band followed up that release with a digital-only EP, Graveyard Grins, in October of 2011.

“This is our most punk-ska record yet,” says WATU vocalist/guitarist Reed Michael Wolcott. “We’ve drifted away from the pop-punk scene and discovered that we’re much more comfortable returning to our foundation.”

Citing influences ranging from Lifetime, Latterman and Strike Anywhere to Less Than Jake and New Found Glory, the band has been praised from the outset for its punk and hardcore-tinged brand of ska-punk. The driven Great Leaps Forward garnered critical acclaim and fan adoration, supplying We Are The Union with a strong record to tour on for over two years. You Can’t Hide The Sun takes the best parts of We Are The Union, grinds them down, returns them to the band’s roots, and spits out an improved sound to make the mouths of punk-minded, ska-loving fans water.

“Expect a more diverse record than our previous releases,” Wolcott continues. “You’ll find songs that range from double-time rippers to single time anthems to bouncy ska jams.”

We Are The Union will embark on an album release tour for two weeks in October just after the album drops. The dates will take the band from an October 14 gig in St. Louis, up to the northeast for a handful of shows, then down to Florida for WATU’s appearance at The Fest in Gainesville, Fla.

You Can’t Hide The Sun was recorded, over the course of a year, with Mark Michalik at Drasik Studios and Wall To Wall Studios in Chicago, IL; Nick Diener of The Swellers at his studio in Saginaw, MI; and Tom Malinowski at his studio in Huntington, NY. The album was mixed by Mark Michalik. You Can’t Hide The Sun will see an October 2 release via Paper + Plastick Records on CD and digital with vinyl coming on Nov. 6.
