The next season of Doctor Who which introduces the latest incarnation of the the title character, The Doctor, has begun filming. The 2010 season (or as the BBC refers to as series rather than season) marks the introduction of Actor Matt Smith’s portrayal in the title role as well as his new companion and assistant played by Karen Gillian.
The new episodes are also the first to be filmed with television writer Steve Moffat as head writer and executive producer of Doctor Who replacing Russel T Davies. New pics reveal The Doctor’s new costume and look. Since the show’s initial debut in 1963, Matt Smith is the 11th actor to officially take on the role of The Doctor; a 900 year old alien time traveler who changes appearance every couple of years or whenever the previous actor leaves the show whether it be prematurely or at the end of contract.
