Sorry Folks, No Image Is Here.

The Lord of the Rings is coming to Amazon for a multi-season series! Originally, I was mad about this news because I thought it was a reboot of the beloved movie franchise but it’s not. The series will take place between The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings. If this is done right like Game of Thrones, I’m all for this but the series is done half-ass, this will be a big mistake.

Cast and crew haven’t been picked yet so I’m sure you’ll see plenty of sites with their dream casting but it’s kind of hard to cast for fun when you don’t know any of the characters that will be featured in this. Will Gollum cameo and would Andy Serkis come back to play him yet again. Would Aragorn, Legolas, Gimli and of course Gandalf be featured? I definitely would love to see some of those characters back again in some capacity. I’d actually love it if they didn’t really feature any hobbits this time and focus on other areas of Middle Earth. Need more elves and of course fighting goblins and orcs!

EW wrote about the news:

Amazon has officially greenlit one show that it hopes to rule them all.

The company has made a multi-season production commitment to a television adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien’s fantasy epic The Lord of the Rings.

It’s a major deal securing one of the biggest brands in pop culture for what’s likely to be one of the most expensive TV shows ever made.

But there’s a catch, creatively speaking: The series will explore storylines set before the events in the first LOTR novel, The Fellowship of the Ring. In other words: The war to destroy the One Ring as chronicled in Peter Jackson’s Oscar-winning trilogy of films will not be told in the TV version. So this story is either set before The Hobbit or in between The Hobbit and LOTR.
