U2 and Creed come to mind when listening to the opening track “Heaven Come My Way” from Abandon Kansas. Except the band isn’t as good as U2, even though I hate to admit that U2 is good (since I hate them). Ad Astra Per Aspera is the band’s follow-up to their 2009 album We’re All Going Somewhere.

When doing a google search about the band, they popped up on a bunch of Christian rock sites, so I guess they are religious? You wouldn’t think it with songs like “Heaven Come My Way” and “A Conversation With The Sky.” Religious rock isn’t my thing, but it might be for others (obviously). Their music isn’t bad, it’s just cookie cutter. Generic rock songs, you know, something that Creed would play. If boring rock music with hidden religious meanings is your thing, give this band a try.

Bottom Line: Not a bad album but it’s just bland
