I was going to call this album the turd of the week without even hearing it. The cover depicts a toilet paper roll, and the album title just beckons it to really suck. I was worried this was turd-burgling shitty hardcore based on the really tough-sounding band name.
Luckily After The Fight play 90s Fat Wreck styled pop punk that treads the line between mediocre and slightly above average. Their lyrics leave something to be desired, but the got the catchy hooks and harmonies, and are really not too hard on the ears. After hearing countless shitty punk rock and emo bands over the years, something like this is very listenable. Just some advice to the band: if you want to be taken seriously, don’t put toilet paper on your cover. Honest Don’s hasn’t released albums in years.
Bottom Line: Almost decent pop punk that needs an image makeover.
