It was only a matter of time before Against Me were going to sign with a major label. I just kept telling my friends that they were going to, and my friends didn’t think so. Well here we are aren’t we? I believe they had something in their documentary DVD where they were leading on certain labels. They kept saying they were going to sign with them just to get free gifts and stuff. Seems kind of hypocritical to me but whatever, if the band wants to get more exposure; that’s cool with me. I’d sign with a major as well if there wasn’t any guidelines or I didn’t have to change my sound to sell records. So more power to them for signing but don’t be surprised if you get dropped after the first record if you don’t sell enough.

I’ve never really been a fan of Against Me and think they are an overrated band. They do put on a good live show though, but the crowd singing along the entire time gets very annoying to me. I guess it depends on what kind of mood i’m in because sometimes Against Me sounds good, and then sometimes it just sounds eh. The first two songs (“New Wave,” “Up The Cuts”) are a good example of the kind of songs I like from Against Me, but then songs like “Thrash Unreal” come on and I want to immediately skip the track. I’m just not a fan of Tom’s singing/talking style. While there is some decent songs on this album, I think Against Me fans will be mixed in liking this.

Bottom Line: Not bad but not that great either
Notable Tracks: New Wave, Up The Cuts, Piss and Vinegar
Overall Rating:
