The Andy Browne Trio, which is actually a quintet (those cheeky monkeys!), is the kind of heartland-rock band you’d accidentally catch at a dive rodeo bar and think was awful until you’ve had a few. After a dozen or so PBR’s, the psych/prog rock overtones would combine with the fuzziness in your drunken skull, and you’d kinda fall into their groove. Whether you feel the guilt the next day is up to you.

So… yeah. John Mellancamp with some David Gilmour-fronted Pink Floyd. Musically, not terrible, if not terribly relevant. But the alt-country/Americana vocals are weak and don’t fit well. But would I like it if it were simply prog rock or simply folk? Probably not.
