I have to admit that I like a lot of indie pop, and “female fronted” tends to be a selling point, rather than a detriment, to me. But Arrica Rose simply isn’t good.
This EP is so mediocre, it makes mediocrity look awesome. The songs are boring and the attempts at both indie rockitude and alt-country fall way flat from their respective standards.
Worst of all, the vocals are pedestrian. Sometimes an enchanting female voice can save boring music, but not here. Arrica Rose can sing on key, but that’s about the only good thing I can say about her. No energy, no spirit, no range – my Speak N’ Spell is more exciting.
Bottom Line: Dull.
