Banner Pilot is from Minnesota and their debut album on Go Kart Records was finally released this summer. Their sound is describe by the band as imagine if Jawbreaker and the Lawrence Arms and Alkaline Trio all got in a knife fight and Jawbreaker won, but just barely. Doesn’t really make sense but the band definitely sounds like some of those bands.

What you get with this Go Kart debut is straight forward pop punk album that you might have heard in the 90’s. The vocals & the rest of the band have this raw sound and they just plow through their songs. There’s 12 songs in total and the album feels like it was over in 15 minutes. I liked this album but felt there wasn’t any really special about these guys.

Bottom Line: Fans of Lawrence Arms, Alkaline Trio will like these guys!
