Making the best of a horrid genre, Bixler play high-energy, positive mallpunk/emo-pop. As much as I hate this polished, radio-friendly tripe, and as disgusted as I am that they’re already being fast-tracked on MTV (their songs will appear in, count ’em, four MTV reality shows), I found myself bopping around a little to the first two tunes. No, I’m not getting softer – Bixler just do it right.

The first two tunes have a fun Sum 41 vibe. The third song, “October,” is about what you’d expect from an emo-pop song called “October” – slow, sad, sappy acoustic garbage. The last song has a slow emo build-up but with a more rocking chorus.

Unfortunately, the second half of the EP is snoresville compared to the energetic first, but the last two songs do showcase Bixler’s better-than-average vocals. All of the songs are well produced to a polished sheen, and I would call this an impressive debut, but I can’t be sure these are humans and not industry-created machines built to churn out the perfect incidental music for My Super Sweet 16.

Bottom Line: OMG I wuv Bixler and ponies! OMGPONIES!1
