With one of the longest band names in existence, the Bloodsucking Zombies From Outer Space or BZFOS for short, hail from Austria and play a mix of horror punk and rockabilly aptly titled horrorbilly.

“Toxic Terror Trax” is the first opportunity that I’ve had a chance to listen to the BZDOFS. All that I can say is WOW! They play a style similar to the Nekromantix but the Zombies’ style mixes in more old fashioned American rock and roll and rockabilly. Songs like “Into the Great Oblivion” and “Kids of the Apocalypse” are raucous rock and roll tracks that would make Carl Perkins proud. Those tracks mix in with your rowdy punkabilly songs like “Radio Active” and “Horror Picture Maniac” to name a few.

As with just about every horror-influenced band, there are plenty of horror culture references. There are songs about werewolves, the bride of Frankenstein, Linda Blair and even a song about everyone’s favorite hockey mask wearing psychopath titled “Camp Crystal Lake”.

I have to say that “Toxic Terror Trax” was one hell of a listen. I liked everything about this album. It was full of classic horror references, great melodic songs put to the sounds of punk, rockabilly and rock music. There was great visual imagery and creative concepts throughout all of the songs. With a love song to Linda Blair, a soulful, introspective song about a lonely ghoul from Hell complete with a horn section and a tale about the creatures that lurk in the forests of Chernobyl…what isn’t there to love about “Toxic Terror Trax”?

Bottom Line: A very fun and creative horrorbilly rock and roll album. Fans of the Horrorpops and Nekromantix check this out!
Notable Tracks: Linda Blair, G.H.O.U.L., Kids of the Apocalypse, Horror Picture Maniac, Camp Crystal Lake, Radio Active
