Solo album from Dangerous Dave of the Queers. Although DD wasn’t part of the early 80s lineup, The Bugs’ sound is exactly like the Tulu/Wimpy era, which isn’t necessarily a good thing.
While early Queers’ political incorrectness was simultaneously raw and cheeky for its time, The Bugs’ one-minute, simplistic, caveman-like shouting of misogynistic and anti-gay phrases just feels lame and sophomoric. Likewise, repetitive riffs and lyrics about being an unemployed junkie doesn’t carry that cool factor anymore now that I’m out of junior high school.
Not to sound, you know, mature, but this album is essentially a retread of the Queers from 25 years ago and it doesn’t work.
“Dave Navarro’s Goatee Fucking Sucks” is pretty funny, though.
