Detroit’s Child Bite and Indiana’s Stationary Odyssey team up with two alternated songs each. Both bands are considered noise-rock, but they’re different from the norm and different from each other. They’re both more structured and less aggressive than other noisemakers; in fact, Stationary Odyssey have been described as “easy listening noise,” which is a neat moniker, and have a loungey feel that remind me of Faith No More. Child Bite are spazzy art rock with various effects, sorta like a Japanese-noise version of Mr. Bungle. I guess they’re Mike Patton fans, and that’s fine by me.
Although they each have noise/experimental elements and maybe a punky-noise attitude, they tend to be more quirk-rock than aggressive noise. They’re not too in-your-face, and the songs are decent if no great shakes. I’d be willing to hear more, but I wouldn’t call this split a wowing experience.
EXCEPT for the CD case. I love it. It’s a circular tin, like a big round Altoids, and the “cover” is a supercool white old-timey print on silver. It’s different and classy and I now use it to hold my condoms.
Bottom Line: Mediocre noise/art rock
Notable Tracks: Child Bite’s “Do The Physical”
