Even if their band name is a Creedence Clearwater Revival reference, it is possibly one of the worst names I’ve ever heard. That aside, you can tell that they owe a whole lot to CCR, taking their bluesy rock approach and playing it at twice the speed. These guys sound like they’ve been playing music for a while; the musicianship is top notch, and the singer belts it out like he really feels it. However, I don’t know that the really punked up blues rock is meant for an album. These guys probably fucking own live.

I feel like if these guys slowed down a little bit and turned down the distortion, they’d sound a bit better on disc. When the horns come in, they sound like the Blue Meanies or Voodoo Glowskulls in that speedy skapunk vein. And I know these guys are different than that. They have a really neat rootsy sound, and the perfect singer for CCR-styled blues rock. But I feel like they’re speeding through their songs so that they can get to the bar and get smashed. Note to Chooglin’: change the name and slow the fuck down

Bottom Line: Tight bluesy rock played too fast. Oh, and fucking terrible band name.
