It’s always a bad sign when the first song is 30 seconds of silence. And that’s the best part of the album.

The Conformists play that cheap, easy style of spazzy, stripped-down post-punk that doesn’t require any particular skill or ability. Just some retarded-sounding yelling, one-note basslines and simplistic drum-bashing. They’re very pointless. Not because it’s noisy or tries to be inaccessible (neither of which are inherently bad); they’re pointless because there’s nothing they do that you yourself can’t do, especially if you’re a mentally challenged 5-year-old with a drumset and some mean lady just took away your favorite ball.

I always hate when I bash a noise or post-punk band because it makes me look like I don’t “get it.” Believe me, I’ve listened to a lot of noise. There is nothing to “get” about The Conformists, other than their lamely unsubtle ironic name, which may not even be ironic at all. Because The Comformists are dull and lazy – and in that they truly are conforming to the masses.

Bottom Line: Painfully pointless post-punk purporting passionate.. porcupines.
Notable Tracks: The silent one.
