Perusing the political/complainy lyrics, I thought these guys would be hardcore, and the bland, chunky midtempo riffing seemed to agree. But, thankfully, the vocals kicked in and picked up the pace. The punky, clean vocals and occasional group whoa-oh’s even make the lyrics sound pretty good.

Unfortunately, the guitars continue to be flat and boring throughout, and never seem to mind that they’re not keeping up with the vox and drums. They just kinda sludge along, hitting the bare minimum notes to keep a riff going. It’s sort of like playing a weak Bad Religion song on Guitar Hero at half the speed and on Easy. With a broken guitar. Underwater.

The lazy guitarwork hurts their songwriting, which is already not that impressive. Still, I think they have something going for them, but they need more time in the oven. If Critical Me can drink some coffee and kick it up a few notches, they have potential for being a halfway decent punkcore band.

Bottom Line: Potentially decent poli-punk with bad guitars and dull songs.
