Darkest Hour is one of the few metalcore bands deserving of my time, proving time and again a consistency in their rockitude.

The band continues to combine melodic guitars and vocals with blistering speed metal. But on Deliver Us, the band feels relaxed and looser to the point of perhaps sloppy, but it actually serves to make them sound fresher. There also seems to be more guitar shredding, including some dazzling solos.

On Deliver Us, Darkest Hour has reached the point of their career where I could proudly call them “metal” instead of “metalcore.” And that is the greatest compliment of all.
