Oh great, another band whose name is Blank City Blank. I mention this so often, I don’t know what’s more cliched – those band names or my complaining about them.
In any case, I’m hesitant to bash them because this is just a demo and they’re young and I don’t want to give them any complexes, but…
Well, they’re biting way too hard off Rancid. “End of the Line” sounds like it’s a cover off something from Out Comes the Wolves, and “Weapons” sounds exactly like about five songs on Let’s Go with the lyrics changed. They even sometimes emulate the guitar sound and the singer does that irritating Tim Armstrong delivery. The last song “Dead Air” is pretty good, but is about listening to the radio, a recurring Rancid topic.
For what might be a high school band, DCD show promise. They may be unoriginal, but they sound pretty good. They just need to take Tim Armstrong’s dick out of their mouths.
Bottom Line: Rancid Jr.
