Folk punk seems like the newest fad in punk rock. I don’t necessarily mind it because I like a lot of the bands that perform it. I still think Against Me is overrated. I just hope these bands listen to the legendary Levellers from England and get an idea on how a real folk punk band should sound like! Okay enough name dropping, let’s discuss this Defiance Ohio album that came out back in December of 2007.

Defiance, Ohio’s album is decent. It has a few stand out tracks. I think the songs “The List” and “Anxious and Worrying” stand out from the other songs. Those songs just sound better than the other ones. For the most part, the band sounds like they play acoustically. They have a fiddle player which is a bonus in my mind. Overall, the band has a “record in your Mom’s basement” type of sound, which will please a lot of folk punk fans. I liked this band but curious to see where they go from here.

Bottom Line: Fans of Andrew Jackson Jihad and Against Me will like this!
Notable Tracks: The List, Anxious and Worrying
