Thanks to my parents, I grew up listening to the Doobies throughout my childhood. With all the bands they played in the car or in the house, I ended up liking the Doobie Brothers the most. I might also like the Doobie Brothers more because they happen to appear on my favorite episode of What’s Happening. They were performing in town, and Rerun got caught bootlegging the concert. The band shows up to confront Rerun but all he caught was himself eating popcorn during the concert. Anyway, This Best Of Doobie Brothers is a 2-disc album featuring the bands many hits of the band, but also some other non-hit songs as well.

I know a lot of these songs, but there are a lot of songs I’m not too familiar with. Of course I know all their popular songs like “Listen to the Music,” “China Grove,” “Takin’ it to the Streets” and “Black Water.” Out of all the Doobie Brothers hits, I love the Michael McDonald stuff like “Takin’ it to the Streets,” “Minute By Minute” and “What a Fool Believes.” “What a Fool Believes” is one of my favorite Doobies songs for some reason. Michael McDonald’s voice is just so good and soulful. Oh i’m sure you all hate him because of what Paul Rudd said in 40 Year Old Virgin, but the man has talent I think. Besides, I can do a great impression of him and sing a lot of his songs at Karaoke bars. All I need to do is grow a big bushy white beard. But before McDonald came on board and change the band’s sound, the Doobie Brothers had a great American rock sound and they are still going at it to this day. This album is great because it features so many classic songs, but it’s also remastered so the quality is top notch. This is the best Doobie Brothers best-of album out there so if you don’t own one yet, buy this.

Bottom Line: This is the definitive Doobie Brothers best-of album!
Notable Tracks: Listen to the Music, Rockin’ Down the Highway, Long Train Runnin, China Grove, Black Water, What a Fool Believes, Takin It To The Streets
