Sometimes bands scream for effect. It’s understandable, a certain extra emotional part of a song deserves a little more oomph, fine. Not so for Fear Before The March of Flames, not so at all. This band takes horrible, incomprehensible screaming to a nauseatingly new level.

It’s hard to believe when listening to “Mouth” that this is actually a band that someone signed. A band that someone believed in enough to put their money behind, just to have them scream all that money away into an album that is so extremely hard on the ears. Hard on the eyes? Not as much, the cover art has a pretty cool concept; with a clear plastic first page over a full cover second page. Unfortunately, you can’t judge this album by its cover.

“Ten Seconds In Los Angeles” sounds like three different bands are playing at once (not to mention each different band is really terrible) and is really just a noisy mess. After that, the record is pretty hard to get through. Anything that sounds like it has even a little promise like “High As A Horse” is just a big disappointment as soon as it kicks in.

Bottom Line: This record is about as bad as it gets.
Notable Tracks: “Absolute Future” – It is the one minute intro track that is comprised of some soft piano and guitars with some quiet singing and speaking mixed in. Oh yeah, it’s nothing like anything else on the album.
