“The Always Open Mouth” wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. It was also nowhere near being any good. There are a couple decent songs that have a Black Sabbath metal sound but most of the songs follow the same formula of long, drawn out build up and an unspectacular crescendo. The screaming vocal parts on a couple of the songs are instant turnoffs and most of the music sounds generic like it could be used as background noise for and X Games promo. The song titles are also ridiculous with names such as “My (Fucking) Deer Hunter, “A Brief Tutorial In Bachanalia (Cigarettes As Currency) and High As A Horse to name a few. You can see where the talent comes in with this band.

With maybe three songs that don’t include any of the above mentioned faults on this album that are any good, I would have to recommend avoiding “The Always Open Mouth” unless you are really looking forward to faux-metal elevator music album. This will make you want to put in some Cannibal Corpse just to get the taste out of your mouth.

Bottom Line: Sounds like a generic attempt at hybrid metal/screamcore or just about anything from Finch.
Notable Tracks: The Waiting Makes Me Curious, Lycanthropy
