There seem to be some unspoken set of rules about musical preferences that everyone seems to follow. They’re almost set in stone and are rarely ever challenged. I guess I’m a bit of a rule-breaker since I feel like I’m often in a boat of my own.
For example:
I like New Order more than Joy Division.
I like Blood on the Tracks more than the Freewheelin’ Bob Dylan.
I like Good News For People Who Like Bad News more than The Moon and Antarctica.
I like George Harrison more than the other Beatles combined.
I like Heartbreaker but hate Ryan Adams.
I like Miles Smiles more than Kind of Blue.
I like most indie rock but hate Radiohead with a fiery passion.
I like hip hop but really don’t care about the Wu Tang Clan.
And, more importantly, I like The Reminder much more than Let It Die. I don’t know what it is, but I think the production is more exciting, the songs are better, and it flows more cohesively. With the exception of a few songs, this one is more upbeat, and I’ll be damned if I’m not near crying every time I hear The Park. This is music for people who love music and all of its history. A wonderful voice, wonderful songs, and one of the best albums so far this year.
Bottom Line: Fantastic sophomore album for the sultry and scintillating Leslie Feist.
Notable Tracks: My Moon My Man, I Feel It All, The Park. Sea Lion Woman, The Limit To Your Love
