Absolutely pathetic straightedge that doesn’t incorporate one original thought. They are so cliched, if they weren’t sincere I’d think they were parody.
Song titles are “The Anthem,” “Our Strength,” “Lights Out,” “Sink or Swim,” and “Against All Odds.” Lyrics are entirely about being pure and strong, not succumbing to peer pressure, and betrayal of friends. I don’t know what’s lamer – the lyrics themselves or the fact that this shit was played out like 15 years ago.
But seriously, what is there to prove? So you don’t drink beer or do drugs, who gives a shit? Isn’t there anything in the world more interesting to talk about? And why is refraining from snorting meth off a hooker’s ass a sign of pride that you have to wear on your fists and tell the world about? That whole “Up Against the World” martyr bullshit is so pathetic. You know what – I don’t like asparagus. Maybe I’ll draw stalks on my face and scream about how the world is against me. But I will remain strong and pure and fight the asparagus-loving world!!!
The irony is that this martyr syndrome (over something as insignificant as smoking or drinking), is inherently overly defensive and yet translates into this haughty, aggressive elitism. You can’t pretend to be persecuted if you act like you could kick everyone’s ass.
Musically, they’re garbage. VERY long 4-5 minute songs of slow-to-midtempo hardcore and subpar vox. Trust me, you’re not lyrical geniuses – you can get your point across in under 10 seconds and not lose anything.
Fight Everyone acts like they’ve got something to prove. They need to first prove they can write and play decent music. Show your purity and strength by doing something original.
Edit: Holy shit, there are 8 people in the band! I thought it was just 2 and maybe a retarded chimp. 8 people in the band and this is the best they can come up with??
Bottom Line: So bad, it led me to heroin abuse.
