Their name sounds like a thrashy noise band, but Five Victims Four Graves plays driving verse/chanted chorus hardcore. They’re good if simplistic, but it’s nice to hear some basic hardcore in this current sea of screamo and bad thrash metal.

I also like that the vocals are throaty and aggressive but clean enough to hear the lyrics. They’ve also got some good basslines, even if you have to listen closely for them. But sometimes the bass bubbles up and, along with the occasionally impressive drumming, evokes more interest in the music.

Bottom Line: Not reinventing hardcore, but I miss this more straight up sound.
