This is a live CD from August 2003, co-headlining a festival in Dublin Ireland. I never heard of the Frames before but I heard they were Irish so I had to check them out since I’m on a Celtic kick right now. They are cross between U2 and The Waterboys. Most bands do live CDs because they want to capture that energetic live performance on CD and sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn’t. This one is good because the quality is decent but you can also hear the crowd singing along with the band and you can tell that The Frames are BIG in Ireland. I like the song “Star Star” because they start covering “Pure Imagination” from Willy Wonka and I love the violin work in their songs. Most likely if a rock band has an accordion or violin or some string instrument, I’m gonna listen to it haha. I like their more faster/upbeat songs but I also dig the slower tunes as well. I’ll probably check out The Frames’ previous releases and see how their music compares with their live album to their studio releases.

Bottom Line: Irish rock that fans of U2, The Waterboys, and Spirit of the West will like.
