Fried Goat is an Americana, Southern rock band from Georgia and South Carolina. Their debut album Bon Appetit is out now, and can be purchased at iTunes or Amazon.com. Their music is actually surprisingly decent, it’s just unfortunate the band has a dumb name.

I honestly thought this album would stink but it doesn’t! The first two tracks “Broad Creek,” “Misery Is Optional” are quite good; I particularly like the later. The third song comes out of nowhere as the band sings “Bulgarian Rhapsody.” “Maybe Today” gives me a good sense that the band is a slightly harder version of a Sister Hazel or even Carbon Leaf. They are more southern rock than folk rock but there’s hint of that stuff in their music. The only really negative have to say is that the slower songs aren’t that strong and could use some work. Faster songs like “Henry” and “Maybe Today” are their stronger work.

Bottom Line: Surprisingly good Southern rock music
Notable Tracks: Misery is Optional, Maybe Today, Henry
