For those who don’t know and don’t really care, I’m not a fan of current hardcore music. Really, I’m not a big fan of hardcore music at all unless your name has Blood in it twice with the number that falls between three and five in between it.

Have Heart are one of those hardcore bands that I speak of. To give them a fair shake, I listened to “The Things We Carry” a couple of times to try and pick up on the things that I liked and I report back to say that there really wasn’t anything. It was more of the prototypical hardcore sound that has been unoriginal since the early 80’s. I thought that punk was bad, but this album is just one same song after another. I seriously found myself losing track of where I was on the album on a few occasions. At times I could understand the lead singer, but most of the time is was just a lot of screaming and yelling. So I decided to take a look at the lyrics and have come to this conclusion: You cannot be in a hardcore band unless every one of your songs has either fuck, fucker, fucking or mother fucker in it as some point. Take note all you hardcore hopefuls. If you want to write a song about a rabbit by the lake, make sure that you call him the fucking rabbit down by the mother fucking lake. That makes you cool…and tough.

Bottom Line: This is a hardcore album and most hardcore albums suck.
Notable Tracks: To Us Fools (mainly because it’s only 23 seconds long)
