Like with most of these CDs that I review, I’m wwwaaaayyy behind and just getting to this CD now. The Hush Sound’s “Like Vine” came out in June 2006 on Decaydance, but I’m just so sick of looking at the Cd that I decided to give it a spin. I had no idea what I was going to listen to, I thought it was either going to be some whiny emo band or some lame pop rock band. But it turns out that the Hush Sound play indie-folk-pop music, which is something I’ve been listening to more and more.

I knew I was going to dig this CD with the very first song “We Intertwined,” which is very similar to ELO’s “Mr Blue Sky.” Similar in beat, not in style. I think the piano style reminds me of that song the most, and the style is carried out throughout the CD. The guy’s vocals isn’t annoying, but it’s definitely a little weird. The female singer, who also plays the piano, has a nice voice. Though it’s not for me because it’s too slow and sappy. She sings on a lot of the songs and I just found myself skipping or fast forwarding those tracks. My advice, have the dude sing more and have the songs more like “We Intertwined.”

Bottom Line: A very unique, weird album but I liked it..well not the female singing
Notable Tracks: We Interwined, Sweet Tangerine
