Iceage Cobra do their damnest to rock out, and they take the rockinest aspects from various styles to do so.
Their main framework is Seattle-style garage rock, and early Mudhoney comes to mind. But loose, stripped-down rock is old hat, so Iceage Cobra flesh it out with modern day garage rock, 70s riffing and cowbells and Peter Framton guitar vocalizing, and some misplaced funk.
The overall sound is loose and grungey, but the eclectic meanderings are overblown and muck up their rockin’ intentions. Worse, the vocals are weak for the music, and lyrics are often delivered too fast, an irritating combination.
Do they rock? Yeah, they rock. Is it awesome? Not really.
Bottom Line: Grungey rock n’ roll that tries too hard.
