Life Before Her Eyes opened in theaters in April and it stars Uma Thurman and Evan Rachel Wood. It’s about a woman who feels guilty for a Columbine-like event that took place 15 years ago. I haven’t seen the movie nor do I plan to. It just sounds like a depressing movie. But that doesn’t mean I’ll not give the score a chance. James Horner is one of my favorite film composers. Just putting on his scores, you can tell right away it’s Horner. Not too many composers can pull off that off. But for this score, It was hard to pick up that signature James Horner sound. It almost sounds like a Philip Glass score instead.
Horner composed this score in a minimalist style. Many of the tracks are moody piano driven pieces that sound like background music; almost like a New Age music. I’m not really a fan of those type of scores. Sure, it’s relaxing to listen to but would I listen to this again? Probably not.
Bottom Line: Relaxing CD but I get bored with it quickly
