Jimmy The Squirrel’s 4 song EP is the latest album to be released on Do The Dog Records. The ska/reggae band hails from Nottingham, UK and are a 5-piece band that doesn’t have any horns in it. You don’t need horns to be a ska band, the keys work just as well! I love keyboard driven ska bands like The Hotknives. This band sort of reminds me of them, along with a bit of Bedouin Soundclash. The album isn’t the most polished thing ever but that’s the point. I like the stripped down sound, and also like Liam’s vocals. Jimmy the Squirrel is ska/reggae music you can dance to, and that’s all that matters at a ska show. Check out the band’s music www.myspace.com/jimmythesquirrel here.
Bottom Line: 4 songs isn’t enough!
