I gave this CD of melancholic Russian ballads to a Ukrainian friend of mine, and she returned it saying, “I wanted to kill myself.” That’s not to say it’s terrible; the suicidal tendencies come from the absolutely bleak music and despairing lyrics. If you’re into sorrowful music, put down the emo and get the real thing.
