Ever since I heard “I Predict a Riot,” I was hooked on the Kaiser Chiefs. I always felt the Kaiser Chiefs were a mixture of Madness, Blur, and The Clash (if that makes any sense). While they might not be as big in America as they are over in the UK, the band will certainly turn some heads with this album. I loved “Employment” but felt towards the end of the album, it started to lose its momentum. Others may disagree with me but I think Angry Mob,’ is a fantastic album from start to finish!

The Kaiser Chiefs’ first single is “Ruby” and it also happens to start the album off as well. I think it’s an awesome song to start the album off because it’s so catchy and you’ll be singing along in no time. Though, to be honest; it took me 2 or 3 listens to like the song. The first time I heard it was in the music video. It seemed a little tamer than something like “I Predict a Riot” or “Oh My God” but once you hear it a few times, it really really grows on you. It seems like each song was made for radio since each song is so poppy. These guys truly are a Britpop band and really succeed at it. Out of all the bands out there that play this style, I would definitely put the Kaiser Chiefs in the top 3. Who the other two are, beats the hell out of me. I think the second best track on the album, is “Heat Dies Down.” The chorus is very poppy & rockin’ at the same time. You got hand-clapping, tambourines, keyboards and all that other fun stuff to make you stand up from your chair and start dancing like a madman. Of course you’d probably look pretty stupid doing that in your living room but you get the idea. Even the slower songs I liked a lot too, like “Love’s Not A Competition (But I’m Winning)” and “I Can Do It Without You.” The band may be more poppy now and less edgy; but I think in the end, they still sound awesome and I’m certainly looking forward to the next album!

Bottom Line: An excellent follow-up to Employment. I can’t stop listening to this album and that’s the honest truth!
