LaGrecia is the newest band from Jason Shevchuk, who used to be in Kid Dynamite and None More Black. Other band members include former Red Sparrowes drummer Dana Berkowitz and bassist Sal Dellaquila. Just as the band was created, it didn’t take long for before the band to call it the quits. I guess it was for personal reasons? But Jason Shevchuk fans will really like this album because it’s something different than he’s done in the past with NMB and Kid Dynamite.
On Parallels is more of a rock album but Jason still adds his snarly vocals to the songs. Most of the songs are dance-able and very upbeat. There’s a few songs on the album I didn’t care for as much (Slower Than Manasses, Can’t Go Back to Daddy’s, Silently Just) but most of the songs are good. Some people have described this band similar to The Hold Steady, Dillinger Four, and other bands in that genre. I guess I can see that. LaGrecia is a stand out band from Jason that is now, sadly over. I guess we’ll have to just live with this release and that’s it.
Bottom Line: Probably one of the best music projects Jason Shevchuk has done
Notable Tracks: Hey Medic, Don’t Wanna Be Right, Two Shotguns
