I personally saw this movie over 12 times and have listened to the music for over 40 years. Ok, I am older than you all. In the 60’s this was a big movie and who could ever forget it? It’s the classic tale of good vs evil; right against the wrong of all things AND how gorgeous were those men in those bright colored clothes!! (and they were great dancers too) Every male of my generation loved Maria (Natalie Wood) and all the girls loved Tonyme, I loved Bernando, the bad boy. I can still remember all the words to the songsLeonard Bernstein composed his brains out for this movieand Sondheim, well…great! Who didn’t know every word to songs…High Schools still love to do this play…it’s timeless and so is the music. My sons don’t remember this but when they were little I used to put the “album” on and sing all the songs to them..(maybe that’s good that they don’t remember) Some favorite tracks are “Tonight”, “Maria” and “Somewhere”actually they all flow together and are so good, you can’t help but sing along to them ( even if you aren’t old enough to have seen the movie).

Bottom Line: Reminisce already–buy the cd!
Notable Tracks: “Tonight” “Maria” “Somewhere”
