Based on their band name, album artwork, and song titles, I was sure this was going to be a reggae group. Was I ever wrong. Lion of Judah are a socially conscious hardcore quintet from DC. Their politics are pretty obvious and the lyrics are interesting, but musically they really don’t do it for me. They have the energy, but there’s really nothing here that stands out besides the confusing artwork. I guess I also don’t know hardcore enough to know exactly who their stylistic influences are, but to me it’s just variations on the same guitar line, fast drums, and the singer shouting with no relation to the beat. Maybe they would’ve been more effective as a reggae band.

Bottom Line: Misleading name for a hardcore band. Generic hardcore with political lyrics.
