(Assumably) named after the Folk Implosion song, Lo-Fi Suicide is a guy named Ryan who plays good lo-fi indie/folk and sings in a soft, lulling, but slightly nasal voice.
On his own, he could be a bit dull, but most of the songs have some discerning feature to keep up interest – lo-fi breakbeats, spacey, ethereal choruses, and the very occasional full band.
Like most lo-fi indie, while nothing extraordinary, there’s a pleasant autumnal quality throughout. The album seems to strive for a poor man’s Shins/Postal Service essence, but never quite reaches such heights. (There are two or three exceptional tracks, but I couldn’t tell you the names as the track list seems off.)
