This movie is Wayne Kramer’s directorial debut, but I don’t think it’s the Wayne Kramer of MC5. That would have been even cooler though, no bad pun intended. This film takes place in Vegas, I believe, and you can definitely get a sense from the CD that it takes place there. Wayne Kramer said he had Isham’s music in the temp track when putting the movie together so it was a real treat for him to work with Mark. He wanted a thematic jazz/ big band score to the movie and Mark Isham delivered. I almost prefer the singing tracks to the jazz score because I’m not really a fan of jazz, believe it or not. I like everything else but not really a fan of jazz. I really liked the track Bob Caldwell doing “Luck Be A Lady.” He definitely sounds like Sinatra on that track. Whoever does that track, I always end up liking it. Joey Fatone appears in the movie and also appears on the soundtrack. Yes, the guy from NYSNC haha. He does Broadway plays and musicals you know. I haven’t seen the movie yet but it looks like a good one, sort of in the Swingers/ Casino way. Isham’s score is probably very fitting with the movie. If you have seen the movie, and liked the music in the film, then you will probably want this. I don’t know how big the release will be though, probably only in selected cities.
Bottom Line: Jazzy soundtrack by Mark Isham featuring many singing actors/singers
