Aw, I love Mike Park. His music, even when he’s punkin’ out, has an adorable quality to it. I think I have a man-crush on him. Anyway, on this set he’s largely acoustic with a quiet band (that sometimes rocks out). His vocals have never been better. It sounds like he really worked on smoothing out his atonal style (his voice is downright moving on “Counting Sheep”). As usual, his lyrics are personal and heavy on the issues of racism and cultural identity. An impressive acoustic debut with memorable and stirring songs.
