The Mirror Stage take themselves way too seriously. Rather than thanking their friends or family, they recognize famous writers or poets that they’ve ‘borrowed’ lyrics from. They took their name from Jacque Lacan’s psychoanalytic theory of a child’s self-awakening, and they play mediocre guitar-heavy indie rock with breathy undersung vocals that they really want to be taken seriously as art. Mostly, they’re a shittier version of Coldplay, Jimmy Eat World, and just about every indie rock band that has no sense of humour or originality to them. Next big thing these guys are not.

Bottom Line: Shitty self-serious indie rock. Pretentious and nauseating.
