Part 2 for Hans Zimmer for his brilliant work for Gladiator. Which won him a Globe Globe for and an Oscar nomination. This soundtrack is similar to other bestselling scores like Braveheart and Titanic, they have release a second CD because this CD was so popular. The first song “Duduk of the North” is compelling song with terrific guitar work. There’s 2 remixes on here, I only liked one. “Now We Are Free: Juba’s Mix” is a slight different version of the other song. The Maximus Mix is like a disco version of this song and it just doesn’t go. I see Russell Crowe doing the Hustle to this song. The other downside to this album is the sound clips in the songs. I wish they would leave the songs alone, but I guess they felt they should be in there. It doesn’t bother me that much. “Rome Is The Light” is a beautiful song sung Lisa Gerrard. Songs that are really good are “Homecoming,” “The General Who Became A Slave,” “Maximus” and “The Mob.” Hell the whole album is great. Another cool thing about this CD is that Hans Zimmer included a demo version of “The Battle”, which is called Gladiator Waltz” on this disc. If you are a fan of Zimmer’s work on the first Cd, then why not get the second because it’s just as good.
